English My Way Course

Starting from September, we will run a free 96-hour English course within the programme “English My Way”. The course is addressed to migrant women with no or low level of English who have been living in the UK for at least one year.​

We just finished our course on Diversity, Cultural Awareness and Inclusion:  working cross-culturally. We had a great group from Turkey. We have seen how to be ourselves and what it means to overcome language and cultural differences to enable dialogue, understanding and inclusion. 

Refugee Week Celebration 2018

Even this year we have celebrated the Refugee Week with lots of events.

The first one was made in collaboration with the Woolwich Common Community Centre and the visitors of the Greenwich Migrant Hub. Visitors made a wonderful tree as part of My Creative Skills sessions funded by Near Neighbours Church Urban Fund.

We finished our one week course on Diversity, Cultural Awareness and Inclusion. Wonderful feedback from the participants about the importance of being aware of our own culture, of thinking positively about actions of change to implement in our own practices and about how an emphatic, honest, respectful and non judgemental approach can open doors to the encounter with those who we consider "the other". Recognising, valuing, validating and appreciating differences whilst acting on commonalities.

A Night of Music at the Old Library

Creating Ground have established a regular music event called A Night of Music at the Old Library in collaboration with Theatre Delicatessen.


A Night of Music at the Old Library aims to bring all different members of the community together to meet and dance together, and to showcase music from different genres and cultures in an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere.

The first Night of Music Event took place on 25th November 2017.

Mindful Communication in and outside the workplace

New series of My Creative Skills

A new series of creative workshops for the visitors of the Greenwich Migrant Hub.

Sessions start on 20th November and take place every Monday from 11am to 1pm for 12 weeks. The sessions are funded by Swan Mountain Trust.

VAL - KA2 European Project

The project is called Mapping, assessing and validating competences of youth educators working with young migrants and refugees (VAL). It is part of the KA2 - Strategic partnership for youth funded by the Erasmus + Programme. The project aim is to map the competence profile of youth educators working with young migrants and refugees, and develop a methodology for assessment of their competences called expertise check-up, a E-course course for assessors, a European certification and a register for assessors and youth educators.

Teaching through Drama courses

This course looks at how teachers can use drama as a tool to engage, motivate and support students. We will look at why drama can be used in teaching and we will learn different drama techniques to use in classroom. The course will be very participatory and practical. The participants will do drama games and warm-up activities, watch videos, experience the techniques and plan and teach their own lessons.

My Creative Skills at Creating Ground

Thanks to a small grant from Edith M Ellis Trust, Creating Ground has run the first series of My Creative Skills workshops in their new office at the Greenwich West. The sessions saw the participants engage in different drama games, craft and art work whilst also talking and focusing on important information on their life in the UK.

Introduction to Iyengar Yoga

Iyengar Yoga emphasises correct alignment and uses props to make yoga accessible to all, regardless how flexible or inflexible you are. You can learn healthy alignment while practicing yoga poses and develop strength, stamina and flexibility.

My Creative Skills Project 2

This is a project devised for the parents of the children attending the Rainbow Club, AFRIL Saturday Supplementary School. It runs on 6 Saturdays between January and March to support AFRIL parents find a space where to express themselves, expand their network and become more confident in their skills through a creative process.

My Creative Skills Project

Creating Ground worked with the Accademia Europea di Firenze ( on the Erasmus Plus Mobitec 2 project hosting 13 students and a teacher from the Secondary School "Sismondi - Pacinotti" for 32 days in June 2016.
