Animation with Plumcroft Primary School
Thanks to Trust for London we've been developing an animation with Plumcroft Primary School to address the impact of Temporary Accommodation (TA) on children’s wellbeing and mental health.
Through drama and storytelling sessions with year 6 students we've been developing an animation that talks about the challenges experienced in TA and the impact on mental health without exposing the children too much.
The animation is still in development and will be presented at our Stronger Together Forum on
7th March 2025, thanks to the support from
Count Yourself Lucky
In 2023 South East London’s Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) partnered with five community organisations, including Creating Ground, to better understand the barriers migrant and underrepresented women face in accessing maternity care.
Through a series of creative workshops, we identified key challenges that shaped a detailed report and inspired the
co-creation of Count Yourself Lucky — a performance based on the lived experiences of migrant women.
Thanks to further funding from MigrationWork Weaving Bonds
Count Yourself Lucky was co-created by Creating Ground members, guided by theatre-makers Erene Kaptani and Rachel Griffiths.
In early 2024 we were invited to perform at the LMNS’s engagement event and later that year, we were approached to film the performance to support staff education and training.
Our hope is that it fosters empathy, compassion, and a deeper understanding of the challenges migrant women face when navigating and accessing services.

Home In A Bag
Home In A Bag is a performance co-created with our Stronger Together Leaders and theatre-maker Erene Kaptani as part of our #NoticeUs campaign to improve Temporary Accommodation in Greenwich.
The performance talks about the challenges experienced by women in temporary accommodation with not being given enough notice to move and what the impacts are for themselves and their children.

Huge thanks to Trust for London, Disrupt Foundation and
University of Greenwich for supporting us to develop this piece and take it to wider audiences including key decision-makers.
“Beautiful performance, raising awareness on such urgent issues.”

#NoticeUs Song
Guided by Tamara Astor and Rebekka Hölzle and thanks to support from Trust for London, our Stronger Together group co-created a song to support our #NoticeUs campaign.

We had the opportunity to open the Citizens UK London Mayoral's Assembly in April 2024 singing it to over 2000 people, asking for change in Temporary Accommodation in London.

"Our life is a question mark
And you keep us in the dark
But we keep shining
and our voices are strong"

Finding Strength: Our Stories of the UK Hostile Environment
This film was made as a complete collaboration between our group's members, each submitting footage and audio from their lives during lockdown and contributing creatively to the final piece over 12 weeks.
It is a celebration of the strength and resilience of this group of women as they continue on their journeys.
